Ichingo Chobe River Lodge
The Chobe River rapid system is running nicely due to the high water we have experienced this year. TigerFishingZambezi recently hosted a group of 16 fly fishing (only) clients all wishing to experience this special water which consists of rapids, riffles, deep pools plus a long drift down to the border bridge that joins Zambia and Botswana.

The bridge itself holds some really big fish around the structure and the drift up river to Mambova Rapids (below Sekoma Lodge) is a renowned stretch for tiger on conventional and fly.

Kasai Barbel Run
The Chobe rapids will be only fishable for the next few weeks but we are running a great package for anyone wanting to fish the Chobe, Kasai and The Zambezi River systems generally. We are also anticipating an approximately 12 day Kasai barbel run anytime from August-October but to nature this is hard to predict but if you are lucky enough it is second only to the Okavango! 

I have been hosting trips to the upper Zambezi since 2006, I usually aim my trips last week in May as I know the fish are there and thick but the trick is to seek and find. Last year it is well known that the river was low but once again we found the fish and yes there were a few tough sessions on tiger but the Nembwe fishing was beyond insane. In summary 2024 was probably one of the best years I have ever experienced and the end of the year summer season was beyond incredible but always “listen to your guides”, they know… This year the waters are high and about one week later than usual from a levels point of view, but let me state this is not unusual. Let the pics do the talking and let me assure all our Zambezi nuts that the waters are happening now and will be on fire throughout the early winter and the spring season leading up to our happy ending summer.

Methods: Fish are being landed now mainly on live bait (circle hooks), Mepps No5, fly and copper spoon off the receding water sand banks, Tiger Jigs, Zara Spooks plus 4 good fish landed on fly. Fly is active mainly at first and last light, surface flippers (morning/dusk) and Clouser’s on intermediate and sink tip. We did not trawl so can't give feedback there.
