TIGERS ON THE PROWL - Winter 2013

Winter in Southern Africa brings wood fires, Old Brown Sherry, trips to the bush and the best fishing that the upper Zambezi River has to offer, winter season means the best tiger fishing on this amazing river system!

On 11th July, we winged our way up to Shackletons Tiger Camp, our May session had been good but we knew there was better, so it was unfinished business time…

All in all approx. 25 tigers gave their best over three full days of fishing, ranging from the small 500g tigers to the massive 9.7KG caught by Chris Hawke. All methods were used from trolling to wielding the fly rod and all yielded great results. Plus the lads managed to land a few of the Zambezi’s legendary predatory bream species such as Humpback, Pink Happy and a 2 kg Three Spot.

The food was epic and the lodge superb, now boasting three dedicated fly fishing boats that have been added to the fleet.
